Dr Pat Love

Pat completed his Doctoral research into the role of Social Capital in Children’s Independent Mobility in Catholic schools in Victoria at Melbourne School of Design (2015) after completing his Master in Urban Planning at the University in 1998.

After 28 years with Catholic Education Melbourne (CEM), Pat retired in December 2016. In addition to his PhD, he also has a Graduate Diploma in Education from Monash University (1982) and a Theology Degree from the Gregorian University, Rome (1979). He is in the process of establishing his own planning consultancy for schools in 2017.

Pat’s previous role for 12 years at Catholic Education Melbourne was as the Manager of Planning for the Archdiocese of Melbourne. During this time he was responsible for or contributed to the development of policy in a number of areas, including strategic school provision planning, demographic forecasts for schools, design of contemporary learning spaces, education for sustainability programs and policy, and outdoor recreation space guidelines for schools. Pat is a member of PIA, a past board member of A4LE (formerly CEFPI), and a former secondary teacher who maintains his VIT registration. He has a passion for transport policy in Melbourne as he is a keen hiker, a committed cyclist and supporter of public transport.
